In 1978 Tissot created a quartz model, featuring a thin case, narrow indexes and a steel bracelet. Its wide horizontal handle, typical of the time, was perfectly integrated into the flat tonneau-shaped case. A few years later, Tissot trademarked the name PRX. “PR” stands for “precise” and “robust.” The "X" stands for the Roman numeral ten and the 10 bar pressure that the watch can withstand. In 2021 Tissot presented the PRX 40205, It is a modern version of the previous model. The 316L stainless steel case of the Tissot PRX 40205 has a diameter of 40 mm. It has a slightly tonneau shape and is adorned with a narrow, round bezel. On the sides, vertically brushed, rounded finishes alternate with shiny facets. The Tissot PRX 40205 Quartz features a dial with a black or blue sunburst pattern combined with nickel-plated indexes and hands. There is also a variant with a satin-finished silver-grey dial with rose gold-colored indexes and hands, a color combination reminiscent of the late 1970s. The flexibility and softness of the mesh make it a true success of ergonomic design and convey extraordinary comfort. The hands of the PRX 40 205 feature a SuperLumiNova® coating and are positioned on top of each other with minimal clearance. This allows the dial to be brought closer to the watch glass. The optical effect achieved by Tissot designers makes the watch case appear even flatter and thinner than it actually is.
