The original Montblanc "baby pen" models from the 1910s and 1920s measured between 6 and 8 cm. Small but highly functional, these fountain pens were made of ebonite and equipped with a 14 ct gold nib. In an era when ballpoint pens and rollers were not yet born, "baby pens" were the perfect writing instruments to carry in your pocket or purse.

The Montblanc baby pens of the 1910s and 1920s were among the smallest and most innovative writing instruments of their time. Loose-proof, travel-ready and easy-to-use, their cutting-ed design helped transform the world of writing at a time when people were beginning to discover the pleasure of travelling long distances. Montblanc Heritage Collection Rouge et Noir "Baby" celebrates the House's pioneering spirit and rich heritage. Inspired by the "Baby" pens of the 1920s, Montblanc reinterprets this revolutionary design for the time in a modern way. The name is a playful reference to the small size of this model, compared to other Montblanc writing instruments. Created in precious black lacquer with platinum finish details, it is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in fine resin, surrounded by the iconic coral shade of the Rouge et Noir collection. The handmade Au585 solid gold nib features a Mont Blanc design.
